History of Oscar Awards-
The 95th Oscar Academy Awards ceremony took place on March 12. We all know that the Oscars, also known as the Academy Awards, are the biggest honor in the film industry. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of America confers this honor every year. The award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the film industry, such as directors, actors, and writers. In 1927, Louis B. Mayer, the head of MGM Studios, and three of his guests—the actors Conrad Nagel, Fred Niblo, and Fede Beatson—contemplated establishing a group to advance the motion picture business. He informed those involved with the major artistic endeavors of the film industry of this scheme. To discuss this, a dinner party was convened at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on January 11, 1927. It was attended by 36 individuals. Here, the idea of forming an organization was considered. George Cohen, Mayer, Douglas Fairbanks, Cedric Gibbons, Mary Pickford, Jesseh Laskiy, Cecil, Irving Thalberg B. DeMille, and Sid Grauman were among the notable guests at this luncheon. This plan was accepted without dissent. Following this, the organization’s officers were chosen in March 1927, with Douglas Fairbanks serving as chairperson. The academy received official approval to operate as an NGO on May 11, 1927, at the Built More Hotel. In celebration of it, a gathering was planned. 300 people attended this gathering. 230 visitors signed up for academy membership and paid the $100 initiation charge. That same evening, Thomas Edison received the Academy’s first honored membership. A branch of actors, directors, authors, and technicians was initially established within the organization.

What do get at the Oscars?
The Oscar Award is the common name for the Academy Award of Merit. It contains a trophy that is made of metal. This idol is covered in a layer of gold. The length of the Oscar trophy is 13.5 inches (34 cm), and it weighs 8.5 pounds (3.85 kg). This trophy features an art deco-styled warrior figure. On a reel of five moles in a movie, this warrior is holding a sword. The five moles represent actors, directors, writers, producers, and technicians. In the Oscar Awards, only this trophy is presented. In this, there is no monetary award. However, the market value of the artist who wins the award increases. No matter what, an Oscar winner cannot sell his trophy. The trophy can be sold for just $1 to the academy if he decides to sell it.
