Classifications of satellite communication

1. Active Satellite

1. Its antennas are used for broadcasting and receiving.
2. It boosts the signal received from the earth station or ground station before sending it back to the planet.
3. Before retransmission, it plays frequency translation of the received signal in addition to amplification. The functioning active satellite can produce power.
4. Due to its functioning, it is referred to as an active repeater.

2. Passive satellite

1. The passive satellite, which acts as a reflector, disperses the signal in all directions after receiving it from the transmitting earth station.
2. It exhibits the electromagnetic radiation unaltered.
3. Passive satellites cannot produce their power, but they do reflect incident energy.
4. Due to its capabilities, it is referred to as a passive repeater.

Passive Satellite can be further subdivided into two types-

1. Artifical Artificial   Satellite An artificial satellite is a spherical balloon covered with metallic plastic. Geostationary satellites and polar satellites are two categories of artificial satellites.

2. Natural Satellite-The moon is the Earth’s natural satellite.

1. Satellite communication is the exchange of information between a satellite in orbit and several Earth stations on the surface. Baseband signals are created by users and processed on the Earth station before being sent to the satellite through dish antennas. A smartphone or a few specific links now connect the customer to the Earth station.

 4. As satellites get stronger, larger, and more potent, the size of the antennas they employ naturally decreases. As a result, modern earth station antennas are smaller than those of the past. Operating and functioning in the millimeter and microwave wave frequency ranges from 1 GHz to 50 GHz is a satellite communication system. The uplink frequency of 6 GHzGHz and the downlink frequency of 4 GHzGHz are the two most well-known frequency bands used by satellites. The real downlink frequency band ranges from 3.4 to 4.8 GHz, whereas the uplink frequency ranges from 5.725 to 7.075 GHz.
